Mammary Augmentation
with
Mammary Implants
Each day there is a larger number of women who wish to increase
the size of their breast, and more and more young women are
undergoing this procedure. It’s normal to see women as young as
18 asking to have an augmentation mammoplasty, valid request
when the breasts are too small.
The concept of the ideal breasts size has changed through
history, being influenced by the age, culture,
and fashion, although the ultimate decision is made by the
patient, according to what she thinks is pretty and
proportionate, and helped by the concepts of beauty given by the
surgeon.

Types of implants
The two types of implants
most frequently used all around
the world, now in days,
are the ones filled up with silicone gel and the ones filled up
with water. Each type of implant has its specific indications
and it hasn’t been proved to have any relation with
breast cancer or any auto immune system sickness.
After studying your case, the plastic surgeon will choose which
is the best implant for you.
To fill up your breasts, these implants should be lodged either
behind the mammary glands or behind pectoral muscles. The
location of the implants will depend on the amount of mammary
glands the patient has, if the patient suffers
a mammary diseases that needs
frequent biopsies, the degree of mammary ptosis and the
surgeon’s experience. None of
these two possible locations affect breastfeeding, because the
implants are placed behind the glands. The nipples’ sensibility
will not be affected, either, but if it happens it will be
temporary..
There are different access routes for this procedure and it will
depend on the surgeon, among them we
have periareolar, transareolar, the sub mammary, the axillary,
umbilical and the trans abdominal which
is placed during abdominalplasty.
All these access routes are valid depending on the case and the
experience of the surgeon. Remember that the results will speak
by themselves. The surgery is
performed in the operating room of
a medical center or hospital,
under local anesthesia and sedation or blockade or general
anesthesia. In an hour of surgery you will obtain a mammary
augmentation instantaneously with the size and the shape
you dreamed of.
For the surgery the patient must be healthy and the blood
test results and controls must be
within the normal limits. The
surgery is an out patient procedure
and the patient can return to normal activity
the third day after the surgery, without any problem. The
augmentation mammoplasty is a routine
surgical option that presents
no complications and will give
many satisfactions to the patient.
