The Rhinoplasty is the procedure most frequently performed in my private practice, and is, without a doubt, a very interesting work, and listening to patient’s desires and perceptions is also interesting.  To enter the operating room with all the necessary elements for a good plastic surgery, is indispensable, to count on detailed knowledge of the patient’s nasal structure, to know which are the changes that only can be obtained with the scalpel, and to be able to predict the results. These to mention some of the concepts that should be considered before undergoing surgery

Rhinoplasty To Correct Previous Surgery

Before

After

It’s interesting how during the first visit to the doctor in a conversation of 30 minutes to an hour, the patient and the surgeon are able to reach an agreement about the objectives of the surgery, for this, the clinical history and the physical exam are helpful.

The great majority of patients want to have their nose structure sharpened, the presence of a hump and/or a wide end; all are valid reasons to make a consultation. Independently on which is the case, the most important thing you should know, is that the changes are possible, the duration of the procedure and the type of anesthesia, depend on the structure to be modified

If the adjustments are only of the nasal end, this surgery can be done under local anesthesia in fifteen to thirty minutes; however, if the adjustments are at nasal bone level, I personally sedate the patient with local anesthesia or general anesthesia, and even more if a septumplasty is also done. The average time in which I perform a rhinoplasty is an hour.

After the surgery is done, the patient is taken to the recovery room where she rests during approximately three hours. Thanks to the great advances in anesthesiology and the use of modern drugs, it’s possible for the patient to leave the clinic three hours after the surgery. This is the reason it shouldn’t be a surprise patients can go home in the afternoon without experiencing pain.

All phone calls are welcome; this way I can know how my patient is undergoing this new experience of the fascinating world of plastic surgery. The visits to my office for controls will be frequent at first, but in a week, you will be able to enjoy your surgery without anybody perceiving it, with a natural aspect, that will be the seal that will distinguish it of the old plastic surgeries.
